Customised pain management plans for persistent pain
Locations that offer Pain Management Plans:
There are many strategies you can use to manage persistent pain, either as an alternative to medication or in conjunction with it. A pain management program is a comprehensive approach to managing your specific pain symptoms, using a customised combination of these strategies.
We recognise that for persistent pain suffers, the control and alleviation of symptoms can be a lifelong journey. Our role is to partner with you throughout the process and create a dynamic pain management strategy that evolves with your needs.
One of the main techniques used in most pain management programs is a psychological approach called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which has proved to be highly effective for persistent pain suffers. CBT helps you alter how you think and feel about pain, which in turn changes your behaviour. It can motivate you to make positive changes, for example in your diet or exercise regime or in the way you interact with other people, which can improve both your physical and emotional wellbeing.
A pain management plan may also include a number of other elements, such as prescription medications, occupational or physical therapies, intervention procedures and relaxation or stress management techniques. We may also support you in self-management techniques that can enhance the results of other strategies.
Our pain management specialists will work with you to develop a program that is suited to your individual symptoms and circumstances. We’ll give you ongoing support to help you implement your program and adapt it to your changing needs over time.
