Brett Chandler graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1999 and then spent time training throughout Australia and the UK before completing his specialty training as both an Anaesthetist and as a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. He became a fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA in 2012 after undertaking a fellowship at the Geelong Pain Unit in 2011.

Brett uses pharmacological, interventional, psychological and patient education to individualise treatment to each patient and their pain syndrome.
In addition to his work at Pain Matrix Brett also consults as a Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthetics and as a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician to Barwon Health and is involved in teaching medical students, Anaesthetic registrars and Pain Fellows.
